- Year: means 12 consecutive months. See Texas Government Code 311.005
The commissioner may extend the term of an initial certificate of authority for a period not to exceed one year if the commissioner determines that the multiple employer welfare arrangement is likely to meet the requirements of this chapter for a final certificate of authority within that period. The commissioner may not grant more than one extension of the initial certificate of authority regardless of the length of time for which an extension was granted.
