Terms Used In Texas Labor Code 409.010

  • Beneficiary: A person who is entitled to receive the benefits or proceeds of a will, trust, insurance policy, retirement plan, annuity, or other contract. Source: OCC
  • Person: includes corporation, organization, government or governmental subdivision or agency, business trust, estate, trust, partnership, association, and any other legal entity. See Texas Government Code 311.005

Immediately on receiving notice of an injury or death from any person, the division shall send to the employee or legal beneficiary a clear and concise description of:
(1) the services provided by:
(A) the division; and
(B) the office of injured employee counsel, including the services of the ombudsman program;
(2) the division’s procedures; and
(3) the person’s rights and responsibilities under this subtitle.
