Terms Used In Texas Local Government Code 118.0215
- Person: includes corporation, organization, government or governmental subdivision or agency, business trust, estate, trust, partnership, association, and any other legal entity. See Texas Government Code 311.005
- Signature: includes the mark of a person unable to write, and "subscribe" includes the making of such a mark. See Texas Government Code 312.011
The fee for “Returned Check” under § 118.011 is for a check that is presented to the county clerk in payment of taxes or any other item the person owes to the county and is returned by the depository bank or any other financial institution because of:
(1) insufficient funds to cover the check;
(2) a closed account;
(3) an unauthorized signature;
(4) a check drawn on uncollected funds; or
(5) any other reason considered to be the fault of the drawer.
