Terms Used In Texas Local Government Code 281.053

  • Appeal: A request made after a trial, asking another court (usually the court of appeals) to decide whether the trial was conducted properly. To make such a request is "to appeal" or "to take an appeal." One who appeals is called the appellant.

An authority is not required to give bond for appeal or for costs, or to deposit double the amount of an award, in a condemnation suit or other suit to which it is a party.
