Terms Used In Texas Local Government Code 361.004

  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • Justice: when applied to a magistrate, means justice of the peace. See Texas Government Code 312.011
  • Municipality: means a general-law municipality, home-rule municipality, or special-law municipality. See Texas Local Government Code 1.005
  • Person: includes corporation, organization, government or governmental subdivision or agency, business trust, estate, trust, partnership, association, and any other legal entity. See Texas Government Code 311.005
  • United States: includes a department, bureau, or other agency of the United States of America. See Texas Government Code 311.005

To finance the facilities of the criminal justice center, the municipality or county jointly or severally may accept grants, gratuities, advances, and loans from the United States, this state, an agency of this state, a private or public corporation, or any other person.
