Terms Used In Texas Local Government Code 382.001
- Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
- Municipality: means a general-law municipality, home-rule municipality, or special-law municipality. See Texas Local Government Code 1.005
- Person: includes corporation, organization, government or governmental subdivision or agency, business trust, estate, trust, partnership, association, and any other legal entity. See Texas Government Code 311.005
(a) In this chapter:
(1) “Board” means the board of directors of a district.
(2) “District” means a public improvement district created by a county under this chapter.
(3) “Hotel” has the meaning assigned by § 156.001, Tax Code, and includes a timeshare, overnight lodging unit, or condominium during the time the timeshare, overnight lodging unit, or condominium is rented by a person who is not the owner of the timeshare, overnight lodging unit, or condominium.
(4) “Municipality” means the municipality in whose extraterritorial jurisdiction the improvement project is to be located.
