- Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
- Home-rule municipality: means a municipality designated by Chapter 5 as a home-rule municipality. See Texas Local Government Code 1.005
- Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
- Municipality: means a general-law municipality, home-rule municipality, or special-law municipality. See Texas Local Government Code 1.005
In addition to the notice requirements under § 43.063, a home-rule municipality, before the municipality may institute annexation proceedings, shall create, or contract for the creation of, and make publicly available a digital map that identifies the area proposed for annexation and any area that would be newly included in the municipality’s extraterritorial jurisdiction as a result of the proposed annexation. A digital map required under this section must be made available without charge and in a format widely used by common geographic information system software or in any other widely used electronic format if the municipality does not have common geographic information system software. If the municipality maintains an Internet website, the municipality shall make the digital map available on the municipality’s website.
