Terms Used In Texas Local Government Code 43.131
- Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
- Municipality: means a general-law municipality, home-rule municipality, or special-law municipality. See Texas Local Government Code 1.005
The annexation of an area for limited purposes does not extend the municipality‘s extraterritorial jurisdiction.
