Terms Used In Texas Local Government Code 51.077
- Damages: Money paid by defendants to successful plaintiffs in civil cases to compensate the plaintiffs for their injuries.
- Municipality: means a general-law municipality, home-rule municipality, or special-law municipality. See Texas Local Government Code 1.005
- Person: includes corporation, organization, government or governmental subdivision or agency, business trust, estate, trust, partnership, association, and any other legal entity. See Texas Government Code 311.005
- Property: means real and personal property. See Texas Government Code 311.005
The municipality may adopt rules, as it considers advisable, governing the municipality’s liability for damages caused to a person or property. The municipality may provide for its exemption from liability.
