Terms Used In Texas Local Government Code Chapter 343 > Subchapter B - Provisions Applicable to Municipalities With a Population of More Than 1.3 Million
- Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
- Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
- Municipality: means a general-law municipality, home-rule municipality, or special-law municipality. See Texas Local Government Code 1.005
- Population: means the population shown by the most recent federal decennial census. See Texas Government Code 311.005
