(a) The commission may adopt rules establishing standards or guidelines for the name, including a trade name or assumed name, under which a podiatrist may conduct a practice in this state. In its rules, the commission may also establish procedures to review and make determinations approving or disapproving a specific name submitted to the department by one or more podiatrists desiring to practice under a particular name.
(b) The authority granted to the commission and department by this section includes any form of business organization under which a podiatrist conducts a practice, including:
(1) a sole proprietorship;
(2) an association;
(3) a partnership;
(4) a professional corporation;
(5) a clinic;
(6) a health maintenance organization; and
(7) a group practice with a practitioner of another branch of the healing art.

(c) A podiatrist may not practice podiatry in this state under any name, including a trade name or assumed name, unless the name is in compliance with the applicable rules adopted or determinations made under this section.
