Terms Used In Texas Special District Local Laws Code 8801.104
- Person: includes corporation, organization, government or governmental subdivision or agency, business trust, estate, trust, partnership, association, and any other legal entity. See Texas Government Code 311.005
- Subpoena: A command to a witness to appear and give testimony.
- Testify: Answer questions in court.
- Testimony: Evidence presented orally by witnesses during trials or before grand juries.
If necessary to carry out its powers, duties, and functions under this chapter, the board may:
(1) compel the testimony of a person;
(2) administer an oath to a person compelled to testify before the board or a person designated by the board; and
(3) issue a subpoena to compel the testimony of a person and the production of a document.
