(a) If an election held under this chapter is contested, the contestant shall send to the comptroller by United States certified or registered mail within 10 days after the filing of the contest a notice of contest containing the style of the suit, the date it was filed, its case number, and the name of the court in which the contest is pending.
(b) A court may not hear an election contest of an election held under this chapter unless the comptroller is notified within the time and in the manner provided by this section.
