(a) A person applying for renewal of a commercial driver’s license must complete the application form required by the department, including updated information and required certifications.
(b) To retain a hazardous materials endorsement, an applicant must pass the written test for that endorsement.

(c) The department may require an examination, including a vision test, for the renewal of a commercial driver’s license.
(d) Before renewing a commercial driver’s license, the department shall check the applicant’s driving record as required by 49 C.F.R. § 383.73.
