(a) It is the duty of the clerks or clerks and masters of the respective courts to prepare a written financial report describing and identifying the amounts of money or other assets in their respective offices at the end of each fiscal year.

Terms Used In Tennessee Code 18-2-103

  • Assets: (1) The property comprising the estate of a deceased person, or (2) the property in a trust account.
  • Fiscal year: The fiscal year is the accounting period for the government. For the federal government, this begins on October 1 and ends on September 30. The fiscal year is designated by the calendar year in which it ends; for example, fiscal year 2006 begins on October 1, 2005 and ends on September 30, 2006.
  • Litigation: A case, controversy, or lawsuit. Participants (plaintiffs and defendants) in lawsuits are called litigants.
  • Representative: when applied to those who represent a decedent, includes executors and administrators, unless the context implies heirs and distributees. See Tennessee Code 1-3-105
  • written: includes printing, typewriting, engraving, lithography, and any other mode of representing words and letters. See Tennessee Code 1-3-105
  • Year: means a calendar year, unless otherwise expressed. See Tennessee Code 1-3-105
(b) The report shall include a listing of all cases for which funds are being held, showing the style of each case and the amount held for each case.
(c) The report shall be filed with the respective court within thirty (30) days of the close of the fiscal year.
(d) The report shall be available for inspection by the comptroller of the treasury, or the comptroller of the treasury’s designated representative, parties to the litigation and their counsel and other interested parties.
