(a) Four (4) members of the commission shall be members of the majority party, and three (3) members of the commission shall be members of the minority party.

Terms Used In Tennessee Code 2-11-103

  • Caucus: From the Algonquian Indian language, a caucus meant "to meet together." An informal organization of members of the legislature that exists to discuss issues of mutual concern and possibly to perform legislative research and policy planning for its members. There are regional, political or ideological, ethnic, and economic-based caucuses.
  • Person: includes a corporation, firm, company or association. See Tennessee Code 1-3-105
(b) Each member to be elected shall first be nominated by a joint senate-house caucus of the members of the party of which such person is a member.
