(1) The resolution of the governing body or the petition of the electors shall include:

Terms Used In Utah Code 10-2-602

  • Governing body: means collectively the legislative body and the executive of any municipality. See Utah Code 10-1-104
  • Municipality: means :
         (5)(a) a city of the first class, city of the second class, city of the third class, city of the fourth class, city of the fifth class;
         (5)(b) a town, as classified in Section 10-2-301; or
         (5)(c) a preliminary municipality incorporated under Chapter 2a, Part 5, Incorporation of a Preliminary Municipality. See Utah Code 10-1-104
  • State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes a state, district, or territory of the United States. See Utah Code 68-3-12.5
  • United States: includes each state, district, and territory of the United States of America. See Utah Code 68-3-12.5
     (1)(a) a statement fully describing each of the areas to be included within the consolidated municipality;
     (1)(b) the name of the proposed consolidated municipality; and
     (1)(c) the names of the municipalities to be consolidated.

     (2)(a) The resolution or petition shall state the population of each of the municipalities within the area of the proposed consolidated municipality and the total population of the proposed consolidated municipality.
     (2)(b)

          (2)(b)(i) The population figure under Subsection (2)(a) shall be derived from the most recent official census or census estimate of the United States Bureau of the Census.
          (2)(b)(ii) If the population figure is not available from the United States Bureau of the Census, the population figure shall be derived from the estimate from the Utah Population Committee.
