As used in this chapter:

(1) “Administrative agency” means the same as that term is defined in Section 81-6-101.

Terms Used In Utah Code 15-4-1 v2

  • Person: means :
         (24)(a) an individual;
         (24)(b) an association;
         (24)(c) an institution;
         (24)(d) a corporation;
         (24)(e) a company;
         (24)(f) a trust;
         (24)(g) a limited liability company;
         (24)(h) a partnership;
         (24)(i) a political subdivision;
         (24)(j) a government office, department, division, bureau, or other body of government; and
         (24)(k) any other organization or entity. See Utah Code 68-3-12.5
  • Tort: A civil wrong or breach of a duty to another person, as outlined by law. A very common tort is negligent operation of a motor vehicle that results in property damage and personal injury in an automobile accident.
(2) “Child” means the same as that term is defined in Section 81-6-101.
(3) “Obligation” includes a liability in tort and contractual obligations.
(4) “Obligee” includes a creditor and a person having a right based on a tort.
(5) “Obligor” includes a debtor and a person liable for a tort.
(6)

     (6)(a) “School fee” means a charge, deposit, rent, or other mandatory payment imposed by:

          (6)(a)(i) a public school as defined in Section 26B-2-401; or
          (6)(a)(ii) a private school that provides education to students in any grade from kindergarten through grade 12.
     (6)(b) “School fee” includes:

          (6)(b)(i) an admission fee;
          (6)(b)(ii) a transportation charge; or
          (6)(b)(iii) a charge, deposit, rent, or other mandatory payment imposed by a third party in connection with an activity or function sponsored by a school described in Subsection (6)(a).
(7) “Several obligors” means obligors severally bound for the same performance.
(8) “Waiver” means the act of not requiring an individual to pay an amount that the individual otherwise owes.
