(1) The board shall prepare a state plan for management of radioactive waste by July 1, 1993.
Terms Used In Utah Code 19-3-107
- Board: means the Waste Management and Radiation Control Board created under Section 19-1-106. See Utah Code 19-3-102
- Radioactive: means any solid, liquid, or gas which emits radiation spontaneously from decay of unstable nuclei. See Utah Code 19-3-102
- State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes a state, district, or territory of the United States. See Utah Code 68-3-12.5
(2) The plan shall:
(2)(a) provide an estimate of radioactive waste capacity needed in the state for the next 20 years;
(2)(b) assess the state’s ability to minimize waste and recycle;
(2)(c) evaluate radioactive waste treatment and disposal options, as well as radioactive waste needs and existing capacity;
(2)(d) evaluate facility siting, design, and operation;
(2)(e) review funding alternatives for radioactive waste management; and
(2)(f) address other radioactive waste management concerns that the board finds appropriate for the preservation of the public health and the environment.
