(1) The election officer may designate one or more polling places as an election day voting center if:
Terms Used In Utah Code 20A-3a-703
- Election: means a regular general election, a municipal general election, a statewide special election, a local special election, a regular primary election, a municipal primary election, and a special district election. See Utah Code 20A-1-102
- Election day voting center: means a polling place designated by an election officer to provide for voting on election day for an individual who:(1)(a) is eligible to vote; and(1)(b) resides within the political subdivision holding the election. See Utah Code 20A-3a-701
- Election officer: means :
(23)(a) the lieutenant governor, for all statewide ballots and elections;(23)(b) the county clerk for:(23)(b)(i) a county ballot and election; and(23)(b)(ii) a ballot and election as a provider election officer as provided in SectionUtah Code 20A-1-102 - Polling place: means a building where voting is conducted. See Utah Code 20A-1-102
- Voter: means an individual who:
(79)(a) meets the requirements for voting in an election;(79)(b) meets the requirements of election registration;(79)(c) is registered to vote; and(79)(d) is listed in the official register book. See Utah Code 20A-1-102(1)(a) except as provided in Subsection (2), the election officer notifies the lieutenant governor of the designation and location of the election day voting center at least 15 days before the election;(1)(b) the polling place meets the requirements for a polling place under Chapter 5, Election Administration; and(1)(c) the polling place is located in a government building or office, unless the election officer determines that there is no government building or office available, in the area designated by the election officer, that:(1)(c)(i) can be scheduled for use during election day voting hours;(1)(c)(ii) has the physical facilities necessary to accommodate election day voting requirements;(1)(c)(iii) has adequate space for voting equipment, poll workers, and voters; and(1)(c)(iv) has adequate security, public accessibility, and parking.(2)(2)(a) The election officer may, after the deadline described in Subsection (1)(a):(2)(a)(i) if necessary, change the location of an election day voting center; or(2)(a)(ii) if the election officer determines that the number of election day voting centers is insufficient due to the number of registered voters who are voting, designate additional election day voting centers.(2)(b) Except as provided in Section 20A-1-308, if an election officer changes the location of an election day voting center or designates an additional election day voting center, the election officer shall, as soon as is reasonably possible, give notice of the dates, times, and location of the changed election day voting center or the additional election day voting center:(2)(b)(i) to the lieutenant governor, for posting on the Statewide Electronic Voter Information Website;(2)(b)(ii) by posting the information on the website of the election officer, if available; and(2)(b)(iii) by posting notice:(2)(b)(iii)(A) of a change in the location of an election day voting center, at the new location and, if possible, the old location; and(2)(b)(iii)(B) of an additional election day voting center, at the additional election day voting center. - Election officer: means :
