(1) As used in this section:
Terms Used In Utah Code 26B-7-408
- Process: means a writ or summons issued in the course of a judicial proceeding. See Utah Code 68-3-12.5
(1)(a) “Blood” means human blood.
(1)(b) “Blood product” includes:
(1)(b)(i) whole blood;
(1)(b)(ii) blood plasma;
(1)(b)(iii) a blood derivative;
(1)(b)(iv) blood platelets; and
(1)(b)(v) blood clotting agents.
(2) The following are considered to be the rendition of a service by each participant and are not considered to be a sale:
(2)(a) the procurement, processing, distribution, or use of a blood product for the purpose of injecting or transfusing the blood product into the human body; and
(2)(b) the process of injecting or transfusing a blood product.
(3) A minor who is at least 16 years old may donate blood to a voluntary, noncompensatory blood donation program if a parent or legal guardian of the minor consents to the donation.
