(1) Each employer shall:

- Commission: means the Labor Commission. See Utah Code 34A-6-103
- Employee: includes any person suffered or permitted to work by an employer. See Utah Code 34A-6-103
- Employer: means :(1)(f)(i) the state;(1)(f)(ii) a county, city, town, and school district in the state; and(1)(f)(iii) a person, including a public utility, having one or more workers or operatives regularly employed in the same business, or in or about the same establishment, under any contract of hire. See Utah Code 34A-6-103
- Workplace: means any place of employment. See Utah Code 34A-6-103
(1)(a) furnish to each of its employees employment and a place of employment that are free from recognized hazards that are causing or are likely to cause death or serious physical harm to its employees; and(1)(b) comply with occupational safety and health standards promulgated under this chapter.
(2) Each employee shall comply with occupational safety and health standards and the rules and orders issued pursuant to this chapter that are applicable to the employee’s own actions and conduct.
(3) In accordance with Title 63G, Chapter 3, Utah Administrative Rulemaking Act, the commission may make rules that are necessary to implement this section for a workplace with multiple employers.
