Terms Used In Utah Code 53-2d-209
- Ambulance: means a ground, air, or water vehicle that:(2)(a) transports patients and is used to provide emergency medical services; and(2)(b) is required to obtain a permit under Section
53-2d-404 to operate in the state. See Utah Code 53-2d-101- Bureau: means the Bureau of Emergency Medical Services created in Section
53-2d-102 . See Utah Code 53-2d-101- Department: means the Department of Public Safety created in Section
53-1-103 . See Utah Code 53-1-102- Emergency medical service personnel: includes a paramedic, medical director of a licensed emergency medical service provider, emergency medical service instructor, behavioral emergency services technician, other categories established by the committee, and a certified emergency medical dispatcher. See Utah Code 53-2d-101
- Emergency medical services: means :
(15)(a) medical services;(15)(b) transportation services;(15)(c) behavioral emergency services; or(15)(d) any combination of the services described in Subsections (15)(a) through (c). See Utah Code 53-2d-101- State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes a state, district, or territory of the United States. See Utah Code 68-3-12.5
- Vehicle: means every device in, upon, or by which any person or property is or may be transported or drawn upon a highway, excepting devices used exclusively upon stationary rails or tracks. See Utah Code 53-1-102
(1)(a) “Liaison” means a regional emergency medical services liaison hired under this section.(1)(b) “Rural county” means a county of the third, fourth, fifth, or sixth class.(2) The bureau shall hire five individuals to serve as regional emergency medical services liaisons to:(2)(a) serve the needs of rural counties in providing emergency medical services in accordance with this chapter;(2)(b) act as a liaison between the bureau and individuals or entities responsible for emergency medical services in rural counties, including:(2)(b)(i) emergency medical services providers;(2)(b)(ii) local officials; and(2)(b)(iii) local health departments or agencies;(2)(c) provide support and training to emergency medical services providers in rural counties;(2)(d) assist rural counties in utilizing state and federal grant programs for financing emergency medical services; and(2)(e) serve as emergency medical service personnel to assist licensed providers with ambulance staffing needs within rural counties.(3) Each liaison hired under Subsection (2):(3)(a) shall reside in a rural county; and(4) The department shall provide each liaison with a vehicle and other equipment in accordance with rules established by the department. - Bureau: means the Bureau of Emergency Medical Services created in Section
