(1) Except as specifically provided in Section 58-1-307 or 58-11a-304 , a license is required to:
Terms Used In Utah Code 58-11a-301
- Barber: means a person who is licensed under this chapter to engage in the practice of barbering. See Utah Code 58-11a-102
- Barber instructor: means a barber who is licensed under this chapter to engage in the practice of barbering instruction. See Utah Code 58-11a-102
- Division: means the Division of Professional Licensing created in Section
58-1-103 . See Utah Code 58-1-102 - Electrologist: means a person who is licensed under this chapter to engage in the practice of electrology. See Utah Code 58-11a-102
- Electrologist instructor: means an electrologist who is licensed under this chapter to engage in the practice of electrology instruction. See Utah Code 58-11a-102
- Esthetician: means a person who is licensed under this chapter to engage in the practice of esthetics. See Utah Code 58-11a-102
- Esthetician instructor: means a master esthetician who is licensed under this chapter to engage in the practice of esthetics instruction. See Utah Code 58-11a-102
- Eyelash and eyebrow technician: means a person who is licensed under this chapter to engage in the practice of eyelash and eyebrow technology. See Utah Code 58-11a-102
- Hair designer: means a person who is licensed under this chapter to engage in the practice of hair design. See Utah Code 58-11a-102
- Hair designer instructor: means a hair designer who is licensed under this chapter to engage in the practice of hair design instruction. See Utah Code 58-11a-102
- Master esthetician: means an individual who is licensed under this chapter to engage in the practice of master-level esthetics. See Utah Code 58-11a-102
- Nail technician: means an individual who is licensed under this chapter to engage in the practice of nail technology. See Utah Code 58-11a-102
- Person: means :(24)(a) an individual;(24)(b) an association;(24)(c) an institution;(24)(d) a corporation;(24)(e) a company;(24)(f) a trust;(24)(g) a limited liability company;(24)(h) a partnership;(24)(i) a political subdivision;(24)(j) a government office, department, division, bureau, or other body of government; and(24)(k) any other organization or entity. See Utah Code 68-3-12.5(1)(a) engage in the practice of:(1)(a)(i) barbering;(1)(a)(ii) barbering instruction;(1)(a)(iii) cosmetology/barbering;(1)(a)(iv) cosmetology/barbering instruction;(1)(a)(v) electrology;(1)(a)(vi) electrology instruction;(1)(a)(vii) esthetics;(1)(a)(viii) master-level esthetics;(1)(a)(ix) esthetics instruction;(1)(a)(x) hair design;(1)(a)(xi) hair design instruction;(1)(a)(xii) nail technology;(1)(a)(xiii) nail technology instruction;(1)(a)(xiv) eyelash and eyebrow technology; or(1)(a)(xv) eyelash and eyebrow technology instruction; or(1)(b) operate:(1)(b)(i) a barbering school;(1)(b)(ii) a cosmetology/barbering school;(1)(b)(iii) an electrology school;(1)(b)(iv) an esthetics school;(1)(b)(v) a hair design school;(1)(b)(vi) a nail technology school; or(1)(b)(vii) an eyelash and eyebrow technology school.
(2) The division shall issue to a person who qualifies under this chapter a license in the following classifications:
(2)(a) barber;
(2)(b) barber instructor;
(2)(c) barber school;
(2)(d) cosmetologist/barber;
(2)(e) cosmetologist/barber instructor;
(2)(f) cosmetology/barber school;
(2)(g) electrologist;
(2)(h) electrologist instructor;
(2)(i) electrology school;
(2)(j) esthetician;
(2)(k) master esthetician;
(2)(l) esthetician instructor;
(2)(m) esthetics school;
(2)(n) hair designer;
(2)(o) hair designer instructor;
(2)(p) hair design school;
(2)(q) nail technician;
(2)(r) nail technology instructor;
(2)(s) nail technology school;
(2)(t) eyelash and eyebrow technician;
(2)(u) eyelash and eyebrow technology instructor; and
(2)(v) eyelash and eyebrow technology school.
(3) A person who participates as an apprentice in an approved apprenticeship under this chapter shall register with the division as described in Section 58-11a-306 .
