(1) A person who is a licensed physical therapist shall use the letters “PT” in connection with the person’s name or business in order to indicate that the person is a licensed physical therapist.
Terms Used In Utah Code 58-24b-503
- Licensed physical therapist: means a person licensed under this chapter to engage in the practice of physical therapy. See Utah Code 58-24b-102
- Licensed physical therapist assistant: means a person licensed under this chapter to engage in the practice of physical therapy, subject to the provisions of Subsection 58-24b-401(2)(a). See Utah Code 58-24b-102
- Person: means :(24)(a) an individual;(24)(b) an association;(24)(c) an institution;(24)(d) a corporation;(24)(e) a company;(24)(f) a trust;(24)(g) a limited liability company;(24)(h) a partnership;(24)(i) a political subdivision;(24)(j) a government office, department, division, bureau, or other body of government; and(24)(k) any other organization or entity. See Utah Code 68-3-12.5
- physiotherapy: means :
(10)(a)(i) examining, evaluating, and testing an individual who has a physical impairment or injury;(10)(a)(ii) identifying or labeling a physical impairment or injury;(10)(a)(iii) formulating a therapeutic intervention plan for the treatment of a physical impairment, injury, or pain;(10)(a)(iv) assessing the ongoing effects of therapeutic intervention for the treatment of a physical impairment or injury;(10)(a)(v) treating or alleviating a physical impairment by designing, modifying, or implementing a therapeutic intervention;(10)(a)(vi) reducing the risk of an injury or physical impairment;(10)(a)(vii) providing instruction on the use of physical measures, activities, or devices for preventative and therapeutic purposes;(10)(a)(viii) promoting and maintaining health and fitness;(10)(a)(ix) the administration of a prescription drug pursuant to Section 58-24b-403;(10)(a)(x) subject to Subsection 58-28-307(12)(b), engaging in the functions described in Subsections (10)(a)(i) through (ix) in relation to an animal, in accordance with the requirements of Section 58-24b-405; and(10)(a)(xi) engaging in administration, consultation, education, and research relating to the practices described in this Subsection (10)(a). (2) A person who is a licensed physical therapist assistant shall use the letters “PTA” in connection with the person’s name or business in order to indicate that the person is a licensed physical therapist assistant.(3) It is unlawful for a person who is not a licensed physical therapist, a licensed physical therapist assistant, or a person described in Subsection58-24b-304(1)(e) to:(3)(a) use, in connection with the person’s name or business, any of the following words or abbreviations:(3)(a)(i) physical therapy, except to the extent that the word is used to describe conduct that a person is licensed to engage in under another law of the state;(3)(a)(ii) physiotherapy; or(3)(a)(iii) any other word, abbreviation, or insignia, indicating or implying, directly or indirectly, that the person practices physical therapy; or(3)(b) offer, provide, or bill a person for:(3)(b)(i) physical therapy services or anything that is characterized as physical therapy services; or(3)(b)(ii) physiotherapy services or anything that is characterized as physiotherapy services.(4) It is unlawful for a person who is not a licensed physical therapist to:(4)(a) except as provided in Subsection(6) , use, in connection with the person’s name or business, any of the following words or abbreviations:(4)(a)(i) physical therapist;(4)(a)(ii) physiotherapist;(4)(a)(iii) PT;(4)(a)(iv) DPT;(4)(a)(v) MPT; or(4)(a)(vi) any other word, abbreviation, or insignia, indicating or implying, directly or indirectly, that the person is a physical therapist or physiotherapist;(4)(b) advertise that a person who is not a licensed physical therapist is a physical therapist or physiotherapist; or(4)(c) promote a person who is not a licensed physical therapist as a physical therapist or physiotherapist.(5) It is unlawful for a person who is not a licensed physical therapist assistant to:(5)(a) use, in connection with the person’s name or business, any of the following words or abbreviations:(5)(a)(i) physical therapist assistant;(5)(a)(ii) physiotherapist assistant;(5)(a)(iii) PTA; or(5)(a)(iv) any other word, abbreviation, or insignia, indicating or implying, directly or indirectly, that the person is a physical therapist assistant or a physiotherapist assistant;(5)(b) advertise that a person who is not a licensed physical therapist assistant is a physical therapist assistant or a physiotherapist assistant; or(5)(c) promote a person who is not a licensed physical therapist assistant as a physical therapist assistant or physiotherapist assistant.(6) Subsection(4)(a) does not prohibit a person from using a word or abbreviation described in Subsection(4)(a) in connection with the person’s business, if the person employs a physical therapist at the person’s business. - physiotherapy: means :
