Terms Used In Utah Code 58-28-311
- Direct supervision: means a veterinarian is present and available for face-to-face contact with the patient and individual being supervised, at the time the patient is receiving veterinary care. See Utah Code 58-28-102
- Person: means :(24)(a) an individual;(24)(b) an association;(24)(c) an institution;(24)(d) a corporation;(24)(e) a company;(24)(f) a trust;(24)(g) a limited liability company;(24)(h) a partnership;(24)(i) a political subdivision;(24)(j) a government office, department, division, bureau, or other body of government; and(24)(k) any other organization or entity. See Utah Code 68-3-12.5
- Practice of veterinary technology: means to perform tasks that are:
(12)(a) related to the care and treatment of animals;(12)(b) delegated by a veterinarian;(12)(c) performed under the direct or indirect supervision of a veterinarian; and(12)(d) permitted by administrative rule and performed in accordance with the standards of the profession. See Utah Code 58-28-102- State certification: means a designation granted by the division on behalf of the state to an individual who has met the requirements for state certification as a veterinary technician related to the practice of veterinary technology. See Utah Code 58-28-102
- Veterinarian: means an individual licensed under this chapter to engage in the practice of veterinary medicine, surgery, and dentistry. See Utah Code 58-28-102
This chapter does not prevent a person from lawfully engaging in the practice of veterinary technology without state certification under the direct supervision of a veterinarian licensed under this chapter.
