(1) A license is required to engage in the practice of recreational therapy, except as specifically provided in Section 58-40-305 or 58-1-307 .
Terms Used In Utah Code 58-40-301
- Division: means the Division of Professional Licensing created in Section
58-1-103 . See Utah Code 58-1-102 - Person: means :(24)(a) an individual;(24)(b) an association;(24)(c) an institution;(24)(d) a corporation;(24)(e) a company;(24)(f) a trust;(24)(g) a limited liability company;(24)(h) a partnership;(24)(i) a political subdivision;(24)(j) a government office, department, division, bureau, or other body of government; and(24)(k) any other organization or entity. - Practice of recreational therapy: means to engage in the paid performance of providing recreational therapy services according to the therapeutic recreation process to a person with an emotional, social, intellectual, or physical pathology. See Utah Code 58-40-102
- therapeutic recreation: means a person-centered process that uses recreation and psychoeducational activities as intervention tools to improve the physical, cognitive, social, behavioral, emotional, or spiritual well-being of a person with an illness or a disability. See Utah Code 58-40-102
(2) The division shall issue to a person who qualifies under this chapter a license in the classification of:(2)(a) master therapeutic recreation specialist;(2)(b) therapeutic recreation specialist; or(2)(c) therapeutic recreation technician.
