(1) This section does not prohibit a lawfully authorized investigative, protective, or intelligence activity of a law enforcement agency, regulatory agency, or political subdivision of this state, another state, the United States, or a foreign country.

Terms Used In Utah Code 63D-3-106

  • Computer: includes any data storage device, data storage facility, or communications facility that is directly related to or that operates in conjunction with the device described in Subsection (2)(a). See Utah Code 63D-3-102
  • State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes a state, district, or territory of the United States. See Utah Code 68-3-12.5
  • United States: includes each state, district, and territory of the United States of America. See Utah Code 68-3-12.5
(2) This part does not apply to a provider of:

     (2)(a) an interactive computer service as defined in 47 U.S.C. § 230(f); or
     (2)(b) an information service as defined in 47 U.S.C. § 153.
