As used in this section:

(1) “Commission” means the Utah Broadband Center Advisory Commission created in Section 36-29-109.

Terms Used In Utah Code 63N-17-203

  • Broadband center: means the Utah Broadband Center created in Section 63N-17-201. See Utah Code 63N-17-102
  • Commission: means the Unified Economic Opportunity Commission created in Section 63N-1a-201. See Utah Code 63N-1a-102
(2) “Strategic plan” means the statewide digital connectivity plan created in accordance with Subsections (2) and (3).
(3) The broadband center shall develop the strategic plan.
(4) The strategic plan shall include strategies to:

     (4)(a) implement broadband connectivity statewide;
     (4)(b) promote digital equity;
     (4)(c) apply for federal infrastructure funds; and
     (4)(d) apply for additional funds.
(5) In developing the strategic plan, the broadband center shall work with the commission.
(6) The broadband center shall provide the commission with quarterly status updates regarding:

     (6)(a) implementation of the commission’s recommendations;
     (6)(b) the grant programs created in Sections 63N-17-301 and 63N-17-401, including:

          (6)(b)(i) applications received for grant funding;
          (6)(b)(ii) grant awards about to be made by the broadband center;
          (6)(b)(iii) grant awards made by the broadband center; and
          (6)(b)(iv) projects implemented with grant funding;
     (6)(c) strategic plan development;
     (6)(d) strategic plan implementation;
     (6)(e) grants received in addition to those described in Subsection (6)(b);
     (6)(f) projects funded in addition to those described in Subsection (6)(b); and
     (6)(g) recommendations for legislation.
(7) The broadband center shall submit the strategic plan to the commission for the commission’s recommendation before finalizing the strategic plan.
(8) On or before October 1 of each year, the broadband center shall report to the commission and the Public Utilities, Energy, and Technology Interim Committee regarding status updates.
