(1) The department shall develop, operate, and maintain veterans cemeteries.
Terms Used In Utah Code 71A-7-301
- Department: means the Department of Veterans and Military Affairs. See Utah Code 71A-1-101
- State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes a state, district, or territory of the United States. See Utah Code 68-3-12.5
- Veteran: means the same as that term is defined in Section Utah Code 71A-1-101
(2) To help pay the costs of developing, constructing, operating, and maintaining veterans cemeteries, the department may:
(2)(a) receive federal funds by following the procedures and requirements of Title 63J, Chapter 5, Federal Funds Procedures Act;
(2)(b) receive state funds, contributions from veterans organizations, and other private donations; and
(2)(c) charge fees for at least the cost of the burial of a veteran‘s spouse and any other persons, who the department determines is eligible to be buried in a veterans cemetery established by the state.
