(1) The court shall have power to allow amendments to any petition, statement of claim, or pleading and to extend, upon due cause shown, the time for filing any other pleading, statement of claim, report, or objection.

- State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes a state, district, or territory of the United States. See Utah Code 68-3-12.5
- Writing: includes :(48)(a) printing;(48)(b) handwriting; and(48)(c) information stored in an electronic or other medium if the information is retrievable in a perceivable format. See Utah Code 68-3-12.5(2) If the claimant files a written request for an extension of time to file a statement of claim within the 90-day period to file a statement of claim, the state engineer shall grant one 30-day extension, in writing.
