Terms Used In Utah Code 75-5b-207
- Petition: means a written request to the court for an order after notice. See Utah Code 75-1-201 v2
- Proceeding: includes action at law and suit in equity. See Utah Code 75-1-201 v2
- State: means a state of the United States, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, any territory or insular possession subject to the jurisdiction of the United States, or a Native American tribe or band recognized by federal law or formally acknowledged by a state. If a petition for the appointment of a guardian or issuance of a protective order is brought in this state and this state was not the respondent’s home state on the date the petition was filed, in addition to complying with the notice requirements of this state, notice of the petition shall be given to those persons who would be entitled to notice of the petition if the proceeding were brought in the respondent’s home state. The notice shall be given in the same manner as notice is given in this state.
