(1) The survey shall establish a state paleontological register for the orderly identification and recognition of the state’s paleontological resources.

Terms Used In Utah Code 79-3-507

  • Board: means the Board of the Utah Geological Survey. See Utah Code 79-3-102
  • Paleontological resources: means remains of prehistoric life pertaining to the natural history of the state. See Utah Code 79-3-102
  • State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes a state, district, or territory of the United States. See Utah Code 68-3-12.5
  • State Paleontological Register: means a register of paleontological sites and localities. See Utah Code 79-3-102
  • Survey: means the Utah Geological Survey. See Utah Code 79-3-102
(2) The board shall notify owners of sites and localities before placing those sites or localities on the State Paleontological Register.
