(1) A youth court may be established by a sponsoring entity or by a private nonprofit entity that contracts with a sponsoring entity.
Terms Used In Utah Code 80-6-908
- Board: means the Board of Juvenile Court Judges. See Utah Code 80-1-102
- Sponsoring entity: means any political subdivision of the state, including a school or school district, juvenile court, law enforcement agency, prosecutor's office, county, city, or town. See Utah Code 80-6-901
- Youth court: means a diversion program that is an alternative disposition for cases involving minors who have committed minor offenses. See Utah Code 80-6-901
(2) The sponsoring entity shall:
(2)(a) oversee the formation of the youth court;
(2)(b) provide assistance with the application for certification from the Youth Court Board; and
(2)(c) provide assistance for the training of youth court members.
