Terms Used In Utah Code > Title 53E > Chapter 4 > Part 4 - State Instructional Materials

  • Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
  • instructional materials: means textbooks or materials used as, or in place of, textbooks and which may be used within the state curriculum framework for courses of study by students in public schools, including:
    (1) textbooks;
    (2) workbooks;
    (3) computer software;
    (4) online or Internet courses; and
    (5) audio and video media. See Utah Code 53E-4-401
  • Person: means :
         (24)(a) an individual;
         (24)(b) an association;
         (24)(c) an institution;
         (24)(d) a corporation;
         (24)(e) a company;
         (24)(f) a trust;
         (24)(g) a limited liability company;
         (24)(h) a partnership;
         (24)(i) a political subdivision;
         (24)(j) a government office, department, division, bureau, or other body of government; and
         (24)(k) any other organization or entity. See Utah Code 68-3-12.5
  • State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes a state, district, or territory of the United States. See Utah Code 68-3-12.5
  • State board: means the State Board of Education. See Utah Code 53E-1-102
  • State superintendent: means the state superintendent of public instruction appointed under Section 53E-3-301. See Utah Code 53E-1-102
