- Administrative traffic checkpoint: means a roadblock procedure where enforcement officers stop all, or a designated sequence of, motor vehicles traveling on highways and roads and subject those vehicles to inspection or testing and the drivers or occupants to questioning or the production of documents. See Utah Code 77-23-102
- Arrest: Taking physical custody of a person by lawful authority.
- Command level officer: includes all sheriffs, heads of law enforcement agencies, and all supervisory enforcement officers of sergeant rank or higher. See Utah Code 77-23-102
- Emergency circumstances: means circumstances where enforcement officers reasonably believe road conditions, weather conditions, or persons present a significant hazard to persons or the property of other persons. See Utah Code 77-23-102
- Enforcement officer: includes :(4)(a) peace officers as defined in
Title 53, Chapter 13, Peace Officer Classifications ;(4)(b) correctional officers as defined inTitle 53, Chapter 13, Peace Officer Classifications ;(4)(c) special function officers as defined and under the restrictions ofTitle 53, Chapter 13, Peace Officer Classifications ; and(4)(d) federal officers as defined inTitle 53, Chapter 13, Peace Officer Classifications . See Utah Code 77-23-102 - Person: means :(24)(a) an individual;(24)(b) an association;(24)(c) an institution;(24)(d) a corporation;(24)(e) a company;(24)(f) a trust;(24)(g) a limited liability company;(24)(h) a partnership;(24)(i) a political subdivision;(24)(j) a government office, department, division, bureau, or other body of government; and(24)(k) any other organization or entity. - Probable cause: A reasonable ground for belief that the offender violated a specific law.
- Property: includes both real and personal property. See Utah Code 68-3-12.5
- Road: includes :(33)(a) a public bridge;(33)(b) a county way;(33)(c) a county road;(33)(d) a common road; and(33)(e) a state road. See Utah Code 68-3-12.5
