Terms Used In Vermont Statutes Title 14 Sec. 2647

  • Guardian: A person legally empowered and charged with the duty of taking care of and managing the property of another person who because of age, intellect, or health, is incapable of managing his (her) own affairs.
  • Legatee: A beneficiary of a decedent

§ 2647. For minor interested in an estate

When notice is required to be given to a minor interested in an estate, as heir, devisee, or legatee, or representative of either, a guardian of the minor shall be appointed before the notice is given. Before any part of the estate is assigned to a minor, a guardian shall be appointed, although the minor has a parent living who is authorized to act as guardian. (Amended 1985, No. 144 (Adj.
