- Town: shall include city and wards or precincts therein; "selectboard members" and "board of civil authority" shall extend to and include the mayor and aldermen of cities; "trustees" shall extend to and include bailiffs of incorporated villages; and the laws applicable to the inhabitants and officers of towns shall be applicable to the inhabitants and similar officers of all municipal corporations. § 5007. Preservation of records
A town clerk shall receive, number, and file for record certificates of marriages and burial-transit permits returned to the clerk. A town clerk shall permanently preserve at the office of the clerk birth and death certificates registered prior to July 1, 2019 and marriage and civil union certificates.
