Terms Used In Vermont Statutes Title 25 Sec. 206

  • Damages: Money paid by defendants to successful plaintiffs in civil cases to compensate the plaintiffs for their injuries.
  • Town: shall include city and wards or precincts therein; "selectboard members" and "board of civil authority" shall extend to and include the mayor and aldermen of cities; "trustees" shall extend to and include bailiffs of incorporated villages; and the laws applicable to the inhabitants and officers of towns shall be applicable to the inhabitants and similar officers of all municipal corporations. § 206. Adjustment of damages

When the owner of such lumber and the owner of the lands or dams do not agree upon the damages, the selectboard of the town where the lands or dams are situated, not being interested therein, shall adjust the same. If such selectboard members are interested, a superior judge not interested, shall adjust the damages. Such adjudication shall be final between the parties. (Amended 1973, No. 249 (Adj.
