Terms Used In Vermont Statutes Title 9 Sec. 4121
- Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
- State: when applied to the different parts of the United States may apply to the District of Columbia and any territory and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. See
§ 4121. Definitions
As used in this chapter:
(1) “Public corporation” means this State, a political subdivision of this State, a corporate instrumentality of this State and one or more states, or a bi-state compact.
(2) “Private corporation” means a general and business or a general nonprofit corporation organized under the laws of this State. (Added 1975, No. 148 (Adj. Sess.), § 1, eff. March 3, 1976.)
