The powers of each institution derived directly or indirectly from this chapter are vested in and may be exercised by a majority of the members of its board, and a majority of such board constitutes a quorum for the transaction of any business authorized by this chapter.

Terms Used In Virginia Code 23.1-1101

  • Board: means the members of the board of visitors, board of trustees, or other governing board of an institution. See Virginia Code 23.1-1100
  • Institution: means each public institution of higher education, as that term is defined in § Virginia Code 23.1-1100
  • Quorum: The number of legislators that must be present to do business.
