A. Except as provided in subsection B, no sale or delivery of alcoholic beverages shall be made at any government store, nor shall any such store be kept open for the sale of alcoholic beverages:

Terms Used In Virginia Code 4.1-120

  • Alcoholic beverages: includes alcohol, spirits, wine, and beer, and any one or more of such varieties containing one-half of one percent or more of alcohol by volume, including mixed alcoholic beverages, and every liquid or solid, powder or crystal, patented or not, containing alcohol, spirits, wine, or beer and capable of being consumed by a human being.   • Board: means the Board of Directors of the Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority. See Virginia Code 4.1-100
  • Government store: means a store established by the Authority for the sale of alcoholic beverages. See Virginia Code 4.1-100

1. On Sunday;

2. On Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day; or

3. During such other periods and on such other days as the Board may direct.

B. Certain government stores, as determined by the Board, may be open on Sunday for the sale of alcoholic beverages after 10:00 a.m.
