Subject to RCW 38.38.176, general courts-martial have jurisdiction to try persons subject to this code for any offense made punishable by this code and may, under such limitations as the governor may prescribe, adjudge any of the following punishments:

Terms Used In Washington Code 38.38.180

  • Code: means this chapter. See Washington Code 38.38.004
  • Dismissal: The dropping of a case by the judge without further consideration or hearing. Source:
  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
  • Officer: means commissioned or warrant officer. See Washington Code 38.38.004
(1) A fine of not more than three hundred dollars;
(2) Forfeiture of pay and allowances;
(3) A reprimand;
(4) Dismissal or dishonorable discharge;
(5) Reduction of a noncommissioned officer to the ranks; or
(6) Any combination of these punishments.
