(1) A member, who had left service and withdrawn the member’s accumulated contributions, shall receive service credit for such prior service if the member restores all withdrawn accumulated contributions together with interest since the time of withdrawal as determined by the department.
Terms Used In Washington Code 41.40.740
- Accumulated contributions: means the sum of all contributions standing to the credit of a member in the member's individual account, including any amount paid under RCW 41. See Washington Code 41.40.010
- Department: means the department of retirement systems created in chapter 41. See Washington Code 41.40.010
- Member: means any employee included in the membership of the retirement system, as provided for in RCW 41. See Washington Code 41.40.010
- Prior service: means all service of an original member rendered to any employer prior to October 1, 1947. See Washington Code 41.40.010
- Retirement: means withdrawal from active service with a retirement allowance as provided by this chapter. See Washington Code 41.40.010
The restoration of such funds must be completed within five years of the resumption of service or prior to retirement, whichever occurs first.
(2) If a member fails to meet the time limitations of subsection (1) of this section, the member may receive service credit destroyed by the withdrawn contributions if the amount required under RCW 41.50.165(2) is paid.
