The department may draft and recommend necessary legislation to advance the interests of the state in aeronautics, represent the state in aeronautical matters before federal agencies and other state agencies, and participate as party plaintiff or defendant or as intervener on behalf of the state or any municipality or citizen thereof in any controversy which involves the interest of the state in aeronautics.

Terms Used In Washington Code 47.68.080

  • Aeronautics: means the science and art of flight and including, but not limited to, transportation by aircraft; the operation, construction, repair, or maintenance of aircraft, aircraft power plants and accessories, including the repair, packing, and maintenance of parachutes; the design, establishment, construction, extension, operation, improvement, repair, or maintenance of airports or air navigation facilities; and instruction in flying or ground subjects pertaining thereto.   • Defendant: In a civil suit, the person complained against; in a criminal case, the person accused of the crime.
  • Department: means the state department of transportation. See Washington Code 47.68.020
  • Plaintiff: The person who files the complaint in a civil lawsuit.
