Terms Used In Washington Code > Chapter 18.83 - Psychologists

  • Board: means the examining board of psychology. See Washington Code 18.83.010
  • Complaint: A written statement by the plaintiff stating the wrongs allegedly committed by the defendant.
  • Department: means the department of health. See Washington Code 18.83.010
  • Dependent: A person dependent for support upon another.
  • Evidence: Information presented in testimony or in documents that is used to persuade the fact finder (judge or jury) to decide the case for one side or the other.
  • Fraud: Intentional deception resulting in injury to another.
  • Injunction: An order of the court prohibiting (or compelling) the performance of a specific act to prevent irreparable damage or injury.
  • person: may be construed to include the United States, this state, or any state or territory, or any public or private corporation or limited liability company, as well as an individual. See Washington Code 1.16.080
  • practice of psychology: means the observation, evaluation, interpretation, and modification of human behavior by the application of psychological principles, methods, and procedures for the purposes of preventing or eliminating symptomatic or maladaptive behavior and promoting mental and behavioral health. See Washington Code 18.83.010
  • Quorum: The number of legislators that must be present to do business.
  • Secretary: means the secretary of health. See Washington Code 18.83.010
  • Statute: A law passed by a legislature.
