Terms Used In Washington Code > Chapter 28A.413 - Paraeducators

• Advanced paraeducator certificate: means a credential earned by a paraeducator who may have the following duties: Assisting in highly impacted classrooms, assisting in specialized instructional support and instructional technology applications, mentoring and coaching other paraeducators, and acting as a short-term emergency substitute teacher. • Appropriation: The provision of funds, through an annual appropriations act or a permanent law, for federal agencies to make payments out of the Treasury for specified purposes. The formal federal spending process consists of two sequential steps: authorization
• Board: means the paraeducator board established in RCW 28A. See Washington Code 28A.413.010
• English language learner programs: means the English language learners program, the transitional bilingual instruction program, and the federal limited English proficiency program. See Washington Code 28A.413.010
• Paraeducator: means a classified public school or school district employee who works under the supervision of a certificated or licensed staff member to support and assist in providing instructional and other services to students and their families. See Washington Code 28A.413.010
• person: may be construed to include the United States, this state, or any state or territory, or any public or private corporation or limited liability company, as well as an individual. See Washington Code 1.16.080
