Terms Used In Washington Code > Chapter 48.21A - Disability insurance -- Extended health
- Association: means a voluntary unincorporated association of insurers formed for the purpose of enabling cooperative action to provide disability insurance in accordance with this chapter in this or any other state having legislation enabling the issuance of insurance of the type provided in this chapter. See Washington Code 48.21A.020
- Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
- Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
- Evidence: Information presented in testimony or in documents that is used to persuade the fact finder (judge or jury) to decide the case for one side or the other.
- Extended health insurance: means hospital, surgical and medical expense insurance provided by a policy issued as provided by this chapter. See Washington Code 48.21A.020
- Insurer: means any insurance company which is authorized to transact disability insurance in this state. See Washington Code 48.21A.020
- person: may be construed to include the United States, this state, or any state or territory, or any public or private corporation or limited liability company, as well as an individual. See Washington Code 1.16.080
- Service of process: The service of writs or summonses to the appropriate party.
- Statute: A law passed by a legislature.
- Trustee: A person or institution holding and administering property in trust.
