It is hereby declared that any expressway, turnpike, feeder road, state local service road or park and forest road or other road, or any subsequent expressway, turnpike feeder road, state local service road, park and forest road or other road constructed pursuant to this article shall be a part of the state road system, although subject to the provisions of this article and of any bonds or trust agreements entered into pursuant thereto, and that the construction of such parkway projects shall be considered as developments of the state road system.

Terms Used In West Virginia Code 17-16A-20

  • Expressway: means any road serving major intrastate and interstate travel, including federal interstate routes. See West Virginia Code 17-16A-5
  • Local service road: means any local arterialized and spur roads which provide land access and socioeconomic benefits to abutting properties. See West Virginia Code 17-16A-5
  • projects: means a parkway project, economic development project or tourism project, or any combination thereof. See West Virginia Code 17-16A-5
  • State: when applied to a part of the United States and not restricted by the context, includes the District of Columbia and the several territories, and the words "United States" also include the said district and territories. See West Virginia Code 2-2-10
  • Turnpike: means the West Virginia Turnpike or any other toll road in the state. See West Virginia Code 17-16A-5
