The director, pursuant to the provisions of section six, article twenty-two of this chapter, with the approval of the commission, may appoint any professional, clerical, technical and administrative personnel, who shall be state employees hired in accordance with article six of this chapter, that may be necessary to carry out the provisions of this article. Prior to his or her appointment, each staff person shall undergo a thorough background investigation, including fingerprinting and a check of criminal records. No employee may directly or indirectly hold any financial interest in any entity licensed under this article.

Terms Used In West Virginia Code 29-25-4

  • Background investigation: means a security, criminal and credit investigation of an applicant who has applied for the issuance or renewal or a license pursuant to this article or a licensee who holds a current license. See West Virginia Code 29-25-2
  • Commission: means the State Lottery Commission created in section four, article twenty-two of this chapter. See West Virginia Code 29-25-2
  • Director: means the Director of the State Lottery Commission. See West Virginia Code 29-25-2
  • Person: means any natural person, corporation, association, partnership, limited partnership, limited liability company or other entity, regardless of its form, structure or nature. See West Virginia Code 29-25-2
  • State: when applied to a part of the United States and not restricted by the context, includes the District of Columbia and the several territories, and the words "United States" also include the said district and territories. See West Virginia Code 2-2-10
